Friday, February 24, 2006Design Toscano![]() ~ Over the years I've browsed Design Toscano. It was probably around 1999 when I started clipping out some of the images from their garden catalogs and placing them in a Dream Garden Journal I was compiling. Within a year of recieving their catalogs their designs went from being gorgeous, one-of-a-kind creations to being incredibly bubbly, oh-I've-seen-that-before works. They literally went from creating some beautiful angel statues at understandably large prices to making cheap-looking statues at erroneous prices. Part of the charm that attracts me to garden pieces is that they look antique (or antiqued) and have some sort of timeless beauty built into them. The statuettes they were producing were colourful, gnome-esque pieces that were cute but cheap-looking. If it wasn't for that I probably wouldn't know what my gardening style is (English, Woodland, and a little formal). Right now I would probably just know what I didn't like and proceed to curse it. Labels: angels, garden ornaments, statuary
