Fireflies

wave of living sparks

the brilliant kind
light a way
tangling the little love-lights
fireflies
twilight is coming
and for this occasion
rival the very stars.
tiny miracles
luminescence without incandescence.
stars in their courses
think only of illumination
firefly light
the visible part
the spectrum
illuminational
luminous firefly.
cooler than the air
of the summer night
fingers capture their yellow beams
between flashes of the air
flash little beacons
And reveal all

A Wasp

"The wasp itself is a “vegetarian” but the larvae feed only on insects and arachnids. Therefore, "as a loving mother”, it is forced to hunt." -ThinkQuest [link]

The Weekend

This is from a blog Kevin showed me.

I like this picture because it's what I will be seeing (hopefully) someday in my yard. I'm not sure if we will raise children who love the outdoors and gardening as much as we do, but I hope that if we do they will be eager to share the beauty of it.

Dog Houses

Dog Houses aren't really considered garden architecture in the decorative sense, but these dog houses really prove that they can be.

As a small dog breed owner, I'd have to say that the Thoroughbred Dog House (the one with a bunny pictured in the doorway; pictured above) would be my choice. A little known odd fact about chihuahuas is that they enjoy sitting aloft. If they could sit atop my parent's vehicles, they would. I don't know why this particular breed acts this way, but I've been the co-owner of 7 myself and all 7 of them act this way!

Anyway, the most expensive dog house featured is the Companion Dog House, complete with a porch for the dog! I think it's a little much myself, but it also comes in a mini size for smaller breeds or puppies. P.S. Notice the chimney!!

Useful and Decorative Sources

I wouldn't label myself as frugal but then again I'm not a wasteful person. I'm attracted to things that serve a purpose and have something going for them in the way of decor. These are two of the newest links I've added and chose to shien a spotlight on.

I really like the Solutions catalog/site. It's sneaky in a way that's welcomed. Like the title hints, every product they have is a solution for something. Everything from the solar powered fountain to the very cute Hot Heads hand protectors (they're like neo oven mitts, haha).

There are SO MANY pruducts @ ImprovementsCatalog.com. There are 33 sub-departments to the "Outdoor" section alone. My favorite departments was Hoses/Sprinkler/Watering. My favorite thing here was the Water Station.
