Friday, July 28, 2006Brook Slane![]() Labels: art ![]() Thursday, July 27, 2006Favortie Garden StuffsFavorite Season: Autumn. But I am beginning to like the late Summer months more now that I have some Earth to plant flowers in. I just despise the heat... Favorite Flower: Deep Red Roses; I generally like all roses. Favorite Vegetable: The Potato. Preferably mashed, baked or fried. Favorite Fruit: If I had to choose just one it'd be grapes. Favorite Insect: Ladybugs Favorite Tree: Weeping Willow; Weeping Mulberry Tree Favorite Colour of a Rose: Deep Red Favorite Vine: Ivy Favorite Butterfly: Common Bluebottle Butterfly Favorite Animal with Wings: Butterflies, Ladybugs and Green Lacewings. Favorite Aspect of Nature: The fact that one is really closer to God. There is something very comforting and relaxing about being outdoors even though you are completely exposed to the elements of nature. Favorite Scent(s): The smell of rain after a light shower. Favorite Sounds of Nature: Rain on flowers, breezes through tall grasses, water trickles, water features. My favorite time of day to listen to these things is early in morning before there isn't any "people noise." Favorite Outdoor Activity: I like walking, I like sitting, I like standing in a garden. Anything to do in a garden is awesome. I even enjoy pulling weeds (when the weather is nice). Gardening is just an extremely rewarding pastime. My favorite, however, would have to be picnicing. *JOY* Most Important Things In A Garden: Plants! (haha) Serenity, tranquility. I don't think a chaotic garden would be a very welcome comfort. But then again I've never seen a chaotic garden... Something I Hate About the Outdoors: Poison plants. Something You Want In a Garden: Lots and lots of water, lots of shade trees and tons strong, hardy plants. Labels: A Few of Our Favorite Things ![]() Favorite Season: Autumn, and winter. Favorite Flower: Phalaenopsis, Lilly, tulip, crocus, daffodils, plumeria Favorite Vegetable: Green bean, lettuce, squash, tomato, broccoli Favorite Fruit: Berries, apple, banana, strawberry Favorite Insect: Butterfly, caterpillar, praying mantis, ladybug, dragonfly Favorite tree: Maple, birch, willow Favorite Colour of a Rose: Red, black, pastel orange Favorite Vine: Jasmine, ivy, wisteria, clematis Favorite Butterfly: Morpho, Heliconius and Ornithoptera species Favorite Animal with Wings: Eeeeeeeeeeeeevil flying squirrels. Ok, so they don't have wings, but they are awfully cute, and they do fly... well, sort of :P This one is not eeeeevil though; just plain cute! Favorite Aspect of Nature: Serenity, it's tranquil admiration, it's harmony of form and color. Favorite Scents: Rain, pine trees, flowers, fresh cut grass, eucalyptus, fireplaces burning on a cold night. Favorite Sounds of Nature: Water, rain, whale songs, storms, songbirds Favorite Outdoor Activity: Everything! It's really hard to pick just one single activity since I luff being outdoors. I really luff water gardening; building the pond(s); landscaping the area... gardening in general. I really luff the water, so being in or around water is very soothing. Most memorable moment in Nature: Finding a nest of hummingbirds in my yard, saving the nest which was almost torn apart due to an approaching storm, and them watching as the little babies emerged from their teeny tiny little eggs about one week later; watching as their delicate feathers formed turning them into little fluff balls; waking up one day to find nothing but a few discarded behbeh feathers left behind within the nest; feeling a sense of sadness, but with a happy heart knowing that they had made it. Most doleful moment in nature: Killing a beautiful little bird with a BB gun at a young age, and then holding the poor thing in my hands shortly thereafter stricken with intense sorrow and grief, for I had so selfishly and pointlessly taken it's life. Having feelings of deep remorse as I thought about the possible babies left behind, now all alone...left to die.
